Welcome to Chattering Robin's blog.
Michelle here today, sharing a project
focusing on the beautiful Dew Drop Collections
from The Robin's Nest.
Recently while "straightening" up my
craft room, I came across some
Microscope Slides & Metal Frame Pendants
I hadn't used in my jewelry making stash.
So with a lot of longing for spring
(sub zero temps here have been ridiculous)
and the urge to get back into some jewelry making,
I decided to create a pendant using
selections from The Robin's Nest Dew Drop Collections.
I wanted to give a watercolor look to the glass.
So, I began by using one coat of clear gesso on one side of each of the slides.
Once dry, I used ink sprays in pink and blue
over the gesso's sides, and while wet
I sprinkled some pale green fine glitter over the spray,
then immediately put the slides together, securing with the frame.
I also used the same ink sprays
on light blue vintage seam binding.
Using a selection of colors from the Silver Bells, Riverside
Sprinkles Mini Dew Drops & Sea Glass Tear Drops collections,
I used mixed media glue around the frame,
alternating silver & purple mini dew drops.
In opposite corners I used the tear drops
to accent the frame.
Wanting a bit of whimsy, I chose to used miniature
paper flowers in the outside center of the glass,
adding a blue mini dew drop to each, and coating
the petals with liquid glass, toad stability to the flowers.
Tying it all up with the vintage seam binding, the look is complete.
Thank you for stopping by today.
